The Early Morning Elk Ranch Story - Ted and Molly Rea
Early Morning Elk Ranch was started in 2000 by Ted and Molly Rea. Originally from Texas, Ted graduated from Texas A & M in 1972 and from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1975. He spent fifteen years practicing medicine in College Station, Texas. Ten years ago he joined a practice in Twin Falls, Idaho, so he could acquire land suitable for raising wildlife. After acquiring the land, Dr. Rea spent months researching and traveling to elk ranches in the US and Canada. He purchased a foundation herd of 22 cows and 3 bulls. This cow herd has pedigrees rooted to Gore and Reed which are top champion producing bulls. Today the heard has grown to over 250 animals. Dr. Rea's dream of producing a genetically superior herd for hard horn came true when two of his bulls, Matador and Rapier, took two 1st place wins and Excaliber a 2nd place win in international competition. (see our Score Sheets) All of our contemporary sires are international winners and they include Manitoba Stealth, Manitoba Weapon, Matador, and Excaliber. Recently, the ranch acquired the syndicated rights to Yoda and Spread Eagle. Early Morning Elk Ranch produces trophy bulls from quality breed stock. The heard has a 8-year CWD Certification as well as being certified TB and brucellosis free. We can ship anywhere in the US that allows importation of domestic cervidae. The ranch is located in the south central part of Idaho near Filer. The property covers 120 acres with an additional 70 acres in Twin Falls only minutes away. The ranch is high fenced with a state-of-the-art handling facility. All 120 acres are under irrigation for hay.
